THE BREAKFAST EXPERIMENT

"Lily, what do you eat?"

That is the most common question that I get. No one wants to know my favorite color is (indigo, by the way) but everyone wants to know what I'm eating. And for good reason! The first two hours after I wake up are the most important part of my day. This is the time that I stretch, meditate, take myself out on a walk, and think about what is important to me. I dive into breakfast-creation, or a fix something quick and get right to work. What I eat for breakfast lays the foundation for the rest of my day. So what do I eat?

These are some of my breakfasts over the last three years. You will notice that I have vacillated from waffles to salad, back to pastries and on to smoothies! I eat mostly out of bowls, and often read or write with breakfast. The question is: what works?

I will keep updating you on what I'm eating and how it's making me feel. I encourage you to try this experiment with your own breakfasts!

Explore eating a different breakfast every day for a week. Tune in to your body and listen to its messages.  Make a note what you eat and how you feel, both right after eating and again two hours later. Sit quietly after you eat and reflect. Note your energy level, your mood and your physical symptoms.

Here are some ideas:

Day 1: Eggs

Day 2: Salad with Fish and Veggies

Day 3: Oatmeal with Fruit, Nuts & Milk

Day 4: Yogurt and Granola

Day 5: Muffin and Coffee

Day 6: Fruit Smoothie

Day 7: Cooked Vegetables and Meat
